The Readmore Inn B&B, Bellows Falls
Let your imagination take you to another time. The house, built in 1892, was named a few years later by the
Ladies Home Journal as one of the ten prettiest country homes in America. Enjoy the comfort of the inn's various public rooms, including the Great Hall with its impressive three-story atrium where you
can relax by the fire or wander into one of the original twin parlors. When the house was built, the parlors were designated for ladies and gentlemen; cigars and brandy in one sherry and women talk
in the other. The men's parlor is now a library, where the town's literary guild meets the fourth Thursday of the month. (You are free to join in the discussion.) The ladies' parlor is a perfect spot to relax
in the morning, its subtle light inspires a calm start to he day.
In the summer, the rose garden is a popular lingering spot, with over 50 types of roses, mostly antique, for you to enjoy. Relax on the massive,
wrap-around front porch; rockers and white wicker await. Or spend a leisurely rest in our gazebo which sits under a massive 200-year-old sugar maple tree with a 92-foot wing span!
Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 9:30, but earlier breakfasts can be accommodated with advance
notice. The milk, eggs, butter, cheese, cereals, and baking products are almost always organic, and their maple syrup comes from a friend's sugar house just
down the road. Our cereals and baking products are also organic. Afternoon tea is served at various locations in the house, or porch, at 4 pm perhaps scones and our own raspberry jam.
